The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee to-night.

O little town of Bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee to-night.

O morning stars, together
Proclaim the holy birth!
And praises sing to God the King,
And peace to men on earth.
For Christ is born of Mary
And gathered all above,
While mortals sleep the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love.

How silently, how silently,
The wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of His Heaven.
No ear may hear His coming;
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him still,
The dear Christ enters in.

Where children pure and happy
Pray to the blessed Child,
Where Misery cries out to Thee,
Son of the Mother mild;
Where Charity stands watching,
And Faith holds wide the door,
The dark night wakes, the glory breaks,
And Christmas comes once more.
O holy Child of Bethlehem!
Descend to us we pray!
Cast out our sin and enter in,
Be born in us to-day.
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell;
O, come to us, abide with us,
Our Lord Emmanuel!

Longtime, not post

Quick update, we are in Rome and doing well. Jacob just had his feedings increased to 29cc/hr with 5hrs off a day. JD is doing great and is able to see his friends much more often! I hope to update this site again in the near future.

Surgery went well

Jacob had his surgery as scheduled on Tuesday and it went pretty well, he has not bounced back yet from the surgery so he is still on the ventilator and in the PICU. He is slowly waking up but is still in a lot of pain so he is getting morphine among other things.

The first test that came back was the ABR which looks at his hearing and it is worse than they thought, he has 100% loss in both ears.

Audri has spent a lot of time at the hospital and I worked for about a day and a half before coming home for the week. JD is scheduled for surgery next Friday, which will require him to spend one day in the hospital but they are expecting a speedy recovery for him.

Surgeries are scheduled

This week has been mostly uneventful, we are gathering items to sell in a yard sale next Saturday the 15th. We will having at my parent's house and everyone is invited to join, message me for directions.

Jacob is scheduled for August 25th, he will be admitted on the 24th to make sure there are no holdups. JD's will be on September 4th and he should be home after only one night. We are thankful that Jacob's could be rescheduled so quickly.

All's Quiet on the Home Front

For those who do not follow us on other mediums, I am sorry. The boys have been out of the hospital for several weeks now and are doing well. Jacob was supposed to have surgery last Wednesday but it was canceled due to a blotched test. We are working to get both of the boys scheduled for August.

Both boys in the hospital

On Friday evening, I came to the hospital to relieve Audri so she could go home and get some rest. She went home and spent about two hours with JD before determining that he needed to come to the ER. JD had been sick since Sunday night with what we thought was a stomach bug but, as we found out in the ER, he had an appendicitis.

They admitted him to the hospital early Saturday morning and put him a room next door to Jacob. He was in a fair amount of pain but got some sleep before he had a procedure to drain the affected area, that seems to have lessened his pain considerably and allowed him to sleep through the night. Currently, he is doing better and eating some Cheerios and drinking apple juice. He is feeling much better and expected to have surgery in four to six weeks to remove all the remainders of this appendix.

Jacob is about the same and both boys are expected to go home early this next week.

Month since last post....

It has been a month since our last post, too many plans to say a lot and saying nothing instead. Jacob is back at CHOA, he had some GI problems on Tuesday and they admitted him that evening. JD was sick with a stomach bug starting on Sunday night but we are not sure the two are related. Jacob is supposed to come home today, we will see what happens.

Over the past month, Jacob has been growing and getting used to living at home. He enjoys looking around more and weighs around 12 lbs. Thank you all for your support.
